I'm constantly amazed at the wealth of wisdom freely shared on social media sites such as Twitter. I've often seen someone post a question and be deluged with helpful and appropriate responses that actually result in getting the seeker's needs met very quickly. Networking in this way also helps connect folks with experts in various fields, which is very helpful considering all of the hats an author or other marketer must wear.

I love Twitter, too, MaAnna. And one of the regular tweets I do for my followers (mostly authors I assume) is for bloggers and others who writer reviews.
Mmmmm, for today, Friday the 13th here is a free gift for poets--from a good friend of mine Yvonne Perry. It's a poetry chapbook, ready for printing!

I recommend developing a brand for you and your book. If your book is, for example, about teens learning to get along with other teens, you may volunteer at a teen center and then blog about your volunteer experience.
In this way your brand encompasses more than just your book and gives people more ways to connect with you.

The internet really does give us so many great and free ways to promote and to help one another. My brother recently got me into another business venture and the others in the venture are just learning to email :) So, I'm getting together with a group of them next weekend to give them a crash course in Web 2.0 - social networking, social bookmarking, podcasting, blogging, optimization and more. Its going to be a wild session which I think one person may video. They have all begged me to put them on the waiting list for Book Promo 201 since it is all about web 2.0 promotion and packed with resources :) I've never learned so much in the research and writing of one of my books - can't wait to share all that info with you all :)

You mentioned a problem with MS Word-- I have a question for you all. Is anyone else having issues with useless html on blogger posts that they copy and paste from Word? Its been happening for ages and I have tried saving the documents in various forms and nothing is getting rid of the trash. Any ideas?

Hi, Dana,
My first recommendation for authors who want to improve their book marketing is to find a insighful publishing marketing mentor like you,Dana,- which has been my good fortune to do this past year.
My second recommendation is to find reliable, experienced brokers for bulk sales with corporations they or you feel might be alligned with your book or parts of its contents. I'm just getting to that stage and I'll let Dana know how it's working out.
