Great suggestions all the way around, Joel. I also suggest authors give some thought to who their target audience is for their book. Many authors tend to try and target everybody, but no book is for everybody. Think about who the target reader is and where you would find them, and you'll quickly find new publicity partners for your book. I have written a bit about this on my blog, too.
