Most of us look forward to new beginnings as the new year dawns. Here are three resolutions to help you sell more books this year:
1. Develop a solid book marketing plan. Too many authors jump from one promotional activity to another, without any real strategy. A book marketing plan is your roadmap to success—make it a priority this month. If you've already got a written book marketing plan, take some time to evaluate it and make any necessary revisions. Refer to this book marketing plan outline for ideas.
2. Set weekly and monthly goals for your promotional activities. Review your book marketing plan and schedule tasks for specific days, weeks and months. For example, your weekly goals might include writing and submitting an article to EzineArticles.com each Monday, making three new contacts on Tuesdays, writing next week's blog posts on Wednesdays, working on publicity on Thursdays, commenting on other blogs on Fridays, and spending half hour on your social networks each day.
3. Make time every day to promote your book and yourself. Determine how much time you are able to devote to book marketing each day and schedule it on your calendar as a high priority task. Just be sure to do something every day to move you toward you sales goals.
Invest a little time now in good planning, and you'll reap the benefits all year.
