Hi Dana
I just read your article about authors and reading. I know what the person means who said she didn't like to read books. I have just written a biography of a Prisoner of War of the Japanese. I had so much reading to do in connection with researching for my book that I never had time to read a book cover to cover just for pleasure. My reading for research was more of a necessary chore rather than a pleasure. If i were now to write a book in some other genre, which I probably will then it might be completely different, But I don't know yet!
Love your emails!

Brian, thanks for your note and your kind words about my book marketing newsletter. I suspect that some nonfiction authors don't read as much as novelists do. I do think it's important for novelists to read books in the same genre that they write in.
